on Monday, fleeing through barbed wire stockades in the first
escape from the compound since the American military took over the
former Soviet airbase.
Also Monday, rescuers reported finding the body of a U.S. Navy SEAL,
the last to be accounted for from a four-man special forces unit that
disappeared after a June 28 ambush in the rugged mountains in the east of
the country.
U.S. and Afghan forces launched a manhunt for the suspects, identified
as Arabs from Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Libya. U.S. soldiers set up
roadblocks and helicopters clattered low over villages near the heavily
guarded base north of the capital, Kabul.
Barbed在此表示“有刺的，有倒钩的，具侧刺毛的”，此外还有“尖刻的，讽刺的”等含义，例如：a barbed
remark（讽刺的话）；barbed statement（锋芒毕露的声明）。
据悉，4名越狱者分别来自叙利亚、科威特、沙特阿拉伯和利比亚。越狱事件发生后，在基地周围和附近村庄，数十名美军士兵每隔数百米，拦截过往车辆加以搜查，美军直升机在空中盘旋。不过奥哈拉认为，身穿橙色囚服的越狱者可能仍在基地内。
