China Daily news briefs (06/12) [ 2007-06-12 14:24 ] Wife turns to kickboxing to stop abusive
husband
A woman from Changchun, Jilin, decided to learn kickboxing last week so she
could fight back against her husband who used to beat her violently whenever
they quarreled.
Showing off the many scars on her arms to local media recently, the woman
surnamed Wei said she was so angry about the violence that she decided to learn
self-defense.
Local experts persuaded her instead to call the police
for help, saying "Giving like for like is not the best way for her to solve her
troubles and it could make her situation even worse".
Thanks for the gift. Is it counterfeit?
Young
couples from Dalian, Liaoning, are considering using cash checkers at their
weddings to pick out forged notes given to them by friends. It is traditional
for guests to give money in red packets as a gift to the bride and groom. But,
one groom surnamed Li was embarrassed after getting several counterfeit notes at
his wedding last Saturday.
Hearing his story,
some couples used a cash checker to inspect their gifts.
