thefts
A Shanghai woman who pretended to be the wife of a
millionaire was arrested recently for allegedly stealing from her fellow
customers at a beauty salon.
Over the course of three months Li Qing
stole wallets, purses and other valuables totalling 100,000 yuan ($13,000) from
unsuspecting customers at the salons. Many of the victims were shocked to
discover Li was behind the thefts as she often boasted of her supposed
millionaire husband.
Father's love dries up after trip to Canada
After
spending just a few weeks living with his daughter in Canada, a man in his 60s
returned home to Dalian, Liaoning, vowing he would never again speak to her.
The father, surnamed Lu, was the
envy of all his neighbors for getting the chance to go and live in the West. But
Lu was not impressed with the life his daughter was living there, or her changed
behavior and values. For example, he got angry when she refused to tell him
where she had been after returning home late one night, saying it was "private".
And, he said, "She even asked me to go Dutch when we went shopping."
