Undergarments catch the eye, raise awareness
Last Friday, many people at the Chongqing Education Institute
were startled to find students from the Department of Fine Arts had made a
gigantic SOS sign out of 200 bras.
Measuing about 12 m long and 8 m
wide, the stunt was meant to raise awareness of women's health issues like
breast cancer, said Wei Qian, the student who masterminded the plan. She said
the bras were donated by female students and by male students who asked their
mothers or girlfriends to donate them.
People who saw the display said
it was an effective way to alert people of women's health issues.

Quick-thinking driver
saves wedding day
A couple on their way to their wedding in Chengdu, Sichuan province,
accidentally left the bride's wedding gown and rings in the taxi to the hotel
where the ceremony was due to take place last week. However, all was not lost:
The taxi driver found the items and dropped them off before the ceremony
started.
Wang Liang, 27, and He Ping, 24, had placed the wedding gown and rings in the
taxi's trunk. When the taxi arrived at the hotel 20 minutes later, they jumped
out, forgetting to retrieve the precious cargo.
The couple did not have the taxi driver's telephone, so they could not find
him. However, the driver, named Qiao, found their belongings when he opened the
trunk to access the taxi's gas tank about two hours later. He immediately drove
the taxi to the hotel where he delivered the goods with time to spare.
Rising tide leaves newlyweds on a reef
Six sets of
newlyweds in Qingdao were so focused on taking wedding photos on a reef near the
beach that they did not notice the tide rising around them. Police eventually
had to rescue them last Wednesday.
The group, comprised of six couples
and four photographers, came from neighboring Hebei Province to take wedding
photos on the beach. They were so engrossed by the beautiful scenery that they
did not notice that the tide was rising until it was too late. They spent six
hours stranded on a reef some 50 m from the beach. Police received a report and
dispatched two lifeboats to the scene.
