复旦百名学生为投毒者“求情”

一年前的春夏之交，复旦大学学生黄洋被同宿舍同学林森浩投毒致死一案震惊全国。今年2月，林森浩被法院认定为犯有故意杀人罪，并被判处死刑。林森浩的辩护律师随即提请上诉。现在二审近在眼前，复旦学生联名为投毒者求情的新闻又引发热议。

More than 170 students from Fudan University signed a petition pleading for leniency for a former postgraduate student who received the death sentence in February for killing his roommate by poisoning.

170多名复旦大学学生发出联名求情信，请求对因投毒杀害室友而在今年2月被判处死刑的该校一名研究生从轻判决。

在英文中，“求情”多用plead或intercede表示，常见的搭配为plead/intercede with someone for something/someone（为某事或某人向某人求情），如：He interceded with the teacher for me.

我们平时说到对犯罪分子的惩罚原则时经常会提到“宽严相济”，这个原则在英语中可用tempering justice with mercy表示；另外，审讯嫌疑人时警方最常用的那句“坦白从宽，抗拒从严”则多用leniency to those who confess, severity to those who resist来表示。
