"Friends" ended in 2004, but 15 years later, each member of the popular sitcom's main cast still makes $20 million a year. The show still makes $1 billion a year for its producer Time Warner, and the actors get 2% of that syndication income, Marketplace said. And now that the show will remain on Netflix through 2019, they could make even more. AT&T, which bought Time Warner, confirmed that Netflix and AT&T were finalizing a multi-year agreement to keep "Friends" on Netflix while AT&T can also stream it on its own service.

The US President Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, who works as a White House adviser, is one of the names being considered as a replacement for the World Bank's outgoing president, Jim Yong Kim, the Financial Times reported Friday. Other possible American nominees to lead the bank include undersecretary of the Treasury for International Affairs David Malpass, US Agency for International Development director Mark Green, and former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, the Financial Times said. The World Bank board said the next president should have a "proven track record of leadership", "experience in managing large organizations with international exposure and familiarity with the public sector" and "a firm commitment to and appreciation for multilateral cooperation". A spokeswoman for the Treasury Department told the Financial Times that the department has been sent "a significant number of recommendations for good candidates" and was "beginning the internal review process" to choose a candidate to put forth to the World Bank's board. Historically, the person that the US – the biggest shareholder – puts forward to be considered for the role is approved by the board.

US space technology firm SpaceX will lay off about 10% of its more than 6,000 employees, according to media reports. The cuts were cited in an email sent to employees. In a statement, a company spokesman confirmed the layoff without specifying how many employees will be released. "To continue delivering for our customers and to succeed in developing interplanetary spacecraft and a global space-based internet, SpaceX must become a leaner company," said the statement. "This means we must part ways with some talented and hardworking members of our team...This action is taken only due to the extraordinarily difficult challenges ahead and would not otherwise be necessary." According to reports, SpaceX is providing a minimum of eight weeks' pay and other benefits to the fired workers.

Netherlands-based startup SpaceLife Origin wants to send a pregnant woman 250 miles above the Earth to give birth to the first extraterrestrial baby in history, in the name of science. According to Egbert Edelbroek, one of the executives of SpaceLife Origin, learning how to give birth in space is an insurance policy for the human race. Even if we ever discover or build an inhabitable place away from Earth, we must first uncover the secrets of space birth if we stand any chance of survival. To do that, SpaceLife Origin plans to organize a series of pioneering experiments over the next five years, with the most important one – an actual human birth in space – scheduled for 2024.
