法国将限行电动滑板车

France will ban electric scooters from pavements in September, the transport minister said, in a backlash against a surge of the commuter gizmos invading pedestrian areas.
法国交通部长表示，法国将从今年9月起，禁止电动踏板车上人行道。近期，法国人行道上的电动踏板车数量大增，引发民怨。

An estimated 15,000 scooters have flooded the French capital since their introduction last year, a number projected to surge to 40,000 by the end of this year.
自去年引入这种代步工具后，目前法国首都巴黎估计已有1.5万辆电动踏板车活跃街头，预计年底将增至4万辆。

Elisabeth Borne told the Le Parisien that anyone riding an e-scooter, monowheel, personal transporter or hoverboard on the pavement would be fined 135 euros from September.
法国交通部长伯尔纳对《巴黎人日报》表示，从9月开始，在人行道上驾驶电动滑板车、电动单轮车、电动平衡车或悬浮滑板，将被处以135欧元(约合1025元人民币)的罚款。

Instead, they will have to use the street or dedicated cycling paths, "so pedestrians are no longer squeezed against walls", the minister said.
伯尔纳说，骑行者只能在街道或专用自行车道使用这些代步工具，"这样行人才不至于被挤到墙边"。

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have used Instagram to announce the birth of their first child, a son.

The boy, as yet unnamed, was born at 5:26 am on Monday, weighing 3 kg.

The new arrival, who becomes seventh in line to the British throne, is the Queen's eighth great-grandchild. He will be revealed to the public on Wednesday after Harry and Meghan said they wanted to spend time as a family to enjoy the birth privately, before sharing it with the world at large.

Apparently, HBO is working on not one, not two, but three spinoffs of the wildly popular show.

George R.R. Martin, author of "Game of Thrones" and executive producer of the HBO series based on the fantasy novels, wrote in his official blog lately that three GoT "successors shows" - he dislikes the term "spinoffs" - are "moving forward nicely".
乔治•R•R•马丁日前在自己的官方博客中写道，三部《权游》衍生剧(他用的是successors shows，因为他不喜欢spinoffs这个词)目前"进展良好"。乔治•R•R•马丁是《权力的游戏》原著作者，也是这部奇幻小说改编电视剧的监制。

As for the three green-lighted successors, Martin writes that, "the one I am not supposed to call THE LONG NIGHT will be shooting later this year, and two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer."

Watts will reportedly lead an ensemble cast, playing "a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret."

>10M students to take gaokao
高考报名人数首破千万

More than 10 million students have applied to take part in China's annual national college entrance examination this year, Minister of Education Chen Baosheng said Monday. Chen released the figure at a meeting on ensuring smooth running of the examination, known as the gaokao in Chinese. "It is a glorious mission and heavy responsibility to organize the exam and enrollment well," Chen said.
为确保2019年高考各项工作平稳实施，教育部6日召开会议部署相关工作。教育部部长陈宝生在会上表示，今年高考报名人数超过1000万，做好高校考试招生工作使命光荣、责任重大。

He urged efforts to guarantee the safety of test papers, the sound organization of exam sites, the quality of grading and fairness in college enrollment.
陈宝生说，要严把试卷安全关、考场组织关、阅卷质量关、录取公平关。
