Japan ranks 121st out of 153 countries on the global rankings for gender equality, falling 11 places since the last audit, marking its lowest level on record, according to the Global Gender Gap Report 2020 released on Tuesday by the World Economic Forum, or WEF.
世界经济论坛17日发布的《全球性别差距报告2020》显示，在153个国家中，日本排在第121位，较上一次的排名下降11个位次，创下历史最低排名。

Based on data in four key areas - politics, economics, education and health - the WEF analyzes gender gaps on a regular basis and said it would take 100 years to close the global gender gap because so little progress had been made in tackling the problem.
世界经济论坛基于政治、经济、教育和健康四个关键领域的数据，定期分析各国性别差距，该机构表示，由于目前全球在解决性别差距这一问题上进展缓慢，完全实现男女平等还要100年时间。

In this year's report, Iceland is ranked as the nation closest to achieving gender parity, followed by Norway, Finland and Sweden.

China ranked 106th, down three places on the list, with a low representation of women in politics and corporate management to blame, the report said.

But the report gave China credit for having virtually closed the educational gender gap, with both sexes achieving universal literacy.

A few notes scribbled in his notebook are all that German composer Ludwig van Beethoven left of his "Tenth Symphony" before his death in 1827.

Now, a team of musicologists and programmers is racing to complete a version of the piece using artificial intelligence (AI), ahead of the 250th anniversary of his birth next year.

>AirAsia to run restaurants

AirAsia, the largest budget carrier in Asia, has announced plans to open over 100 restaurants globally within the next five years.

The restaurants will be offering the same menu AirAsia sells on flights, including chicken rice, the airline's signature Pak Nasser's Nasi Lemak dish, pineapple fish, noodle chicken inasal with garlic rice, and onde-onde cake.
