An obsession with selfies is causing a growing number of young people complaining of sore wrist.

The ailment called "selfie wrist" - which is a form of carpal tunnel syndrome - has left some sufferers requiring surgery.

"The wrist holding the camera phone is in an inward flexed position: that is the most unfavourable position," Raj Ragoowansi, a consultant plastic surgeon in the UK, said. In one 26-year-old I saw a month ago the numbness was so severe that she couldn't grip," Ragoowansi added.

A record-breaking 3.41 million people have applied for the national postgraduate entrance examination, which will begin on Saturday and last until Monday, for the 2020 academic year, according to the Ministry of Education. This year the figure has increased 17.6% over the previous year. A total of 2.9 million people applied for the exam for 2019 academic year.
