>World trade to fall by up to 32%
WTO:全球贸易将跌13-32%

World trade is expected to fall by between 13% and 32% in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupts normal economic activity and life around the world, the World Trade Organization (WTO) said Wednesday in its latest annual Trade Statistics and Outlook Report.
世界贸易组织8日在其最新发布的年度《全球贸易数据与展望》报告中表示，由于新冠肺炎大流行扰乱全球正常经济活动和生活，今年全球贸易将缩水13%到32%。

The WTO added that the decline would likely exceed the trade slump brought on by the global financial crisis of 2008-09.
世贸组织还称，此次贸易下降幅度可能会超过2008-09年全球金融危机带来的贸易下滑。

According to the report, estimates of the expected recovery in 2021 are equally uncertain, with outcomes depending largely on the duration of the outbreak and the effectiveness of the policy responses.
报告称，对2021年贸易恢复的预期也同样存在不确定，其结果在很大程度上取决于疫情的持续时间和政策反应的有效性。

"The immediate goal is to bring the pandemic under control and mitigate the economic damage to people, companies and countries. But policymakers must start planning for the aftermath of the pandemic," said WTO Director-General Roberto Azevedo.
世贸组织总干事阿泽维多表示，目前首要目标是控制疫情，减轻疫情对民众、企业和国家的经济损害，但政策制定者们必须同时开始为后疫情时期作规划。

Azevedo underlined that "if countries work together, we will see a much faster recovery than if each country acts alone."

Bernie Sanders announced on Wednesday he is dropping out of the race for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, leaving former vice-president Joe Biden as the party's nominee against President Donald Trump in November.

Speaking from Burlington, Vermont, Sanders announced his "very difficult and painful decision" in a live streamed address to supporters.

The agency recently published a picture of the first Long March 5B that has been assembled inside a colossal building, indicating the giant rocket is ready for its maiden mission.

A Long March 5B is 53.7 meters long, with a diameter of 5 meters. It will be propelled by liquid oxygen, liquid hydrogen and kerosene, and will have a liftoff weight of about 849 metric tons.
长征五号B运载火箭全长约53.7米，芯一级直径5米，采用液氧、液氢和煤油作为推进剂，起飞质量约849吨。

The new model will be tasked with sending large spacecraft to low-Earth orbit.

>5G-enabled messaging unveiled

China's big three telecom carriers unveiled a new 5G-enabled messaging service on Wednesday, which analysts said is likely to open a new era for social networking.
我国三大电信运营商8日宣布启动一种新的5G赋能的消息服务，分析人士称，5G消息可能令社交网络进入全新时代。

China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom published a white paper for the 5G messaging service, which specifies technical details to invite smartphone makers to support the new service.

Falling under the technical name of rich communication services, or RCS, the 5G messaging service is designed to replace current short messages with a system that is richer, provides phonebook polling, and can transmit in-call multimedia.
