>UK leading epidemiologist resigns

British leading epidemiologist Neil Ferguson resigned from the Government's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) on Tuesday after media reported that he broke social distancing rules.
由于被媒体曝光违反保持社交距离的规定，英国首席流行病学家尼尔·弗格森于5日辞去了他在政府紧急情况科学咨询小组的职务。

Ferguson and his team at Imperial College London produced mathematical prediction models that claimed coronavirus could cost more than 500,000 lives in the UK without lockdown measures.

His research prompted the UK government to change its coronavirus strategy and take the national lockdown measures.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Ferguson allowed his friend to visit him at home on at least two occasions during the lockdown, breaking rules that say citizens must only leave home for very limited purposes.

Ferguson told the Daily Telegraph that he made an "error of judgment" and therefore stepped back from his involvement in SAGE.

>Refund of accommodation fees

Regions across China have required schools to return unused accommodation fees to students, as this year's new term has been delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
新冠肺炎疫情导致今年新学期延迟开学，我国多地已要求学校将多收的住宿费退还给学生。

Schools that have charged students a whole school year's fees for boarding at school should refund the part that wasn't used during the second semester, according to a notice by the Education Department of the Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
宁夏回族自治区教育厅近日发布通知，明确已按学年收取住宿费的，学校须将多收部分在第二学期退还学生。

Hebei province has issued a similar notice to local schools. It said schools should collect students' accommodation fees according to their actual length of residence during the period of COVID-19.
河北省也向当地学校发布了类似通知，要求在疫情防控期间，学校根据学生实际在校住宿时间计收住宿费。

Other provinces, including Zhejiang, Sichuan and Shaanxi, have publicized similar refund policies.
浙江、四川、陕西等其他省份也出台了相似的退费政策。

>China speeds up 5G development
我国已建19.8万5G基站

China is ratcheting up efforts to accelerate the commercialization of superfast 5G technology, as it has built 198,000 5G stations and secured more than 50 million 5G mobile subscribers nationwide, as of the end of March, the nation's top industry regulator said.
工信部表示，我国正大力推进超高速5G技术的商业化，截至3月底，全国已建成5G基站19.8万个，套餐用户规模超过5000万。

Wen Ku, head of information and communication at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that as of April 20, a total of 95 types of 5G mobile phones had been licensed, and 5G handsets priced at less than 2,000 yuan have already entered the market.
工信部信息通信发展司司长闻库说，截至4月20日，已有95款5G终端获得许可，售价在2000元以下的5G手机已经面市。

The ministry said it will support smartphone manufacturers to strengthen research, development and innovation in a bid to provide consumers with various types of cost-effective 5G mobile phones and bolster the consumption of 5G phones through optimizing 5G package services and lowering data plan fees.
工信部称，将支持手机生产商加强研发创新，为消费者提供品类丰富、性价比高的5G手机，并通过优化5G套餐服务和降低数据套餐费用，促进5G手机消费。

>Long March 5B rocket launched
长征五号B火箭首飞成功

China's Long March 5B carrier rocket made its first flight on Tuesday evening at the Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan province, marking a new chapter in the country's manned space program, according to the China Manned Space Agency.
中国载人航天工程办公室称，5日晚，我国的长征五号B运载火箭在海南文昌发射中心首飞，标志着我国载人航天工程进入新的篇章。

The 18-story rocket blasted off at 6 pm from a launchpad in the coastal center and soon thundered into the bright blue sky, video clips showed.
视频片段显示，这枚18层楼高的火箭于当日晚6时从文昌中心的一个发射台发射升空，在轰鸣声中飞上蓝天。

Nearly nine minutes later, it placed prototypes of China's next-generation manned spacecraft and an experimental cargo retrieval craft, as well as more than 10 experimental payloads in low-Earth orbit, the agency said in a statement.
