听老外在中国的故事：我见证了很多变化

I moved to China in 1997, two weeks after graduating from university in the US. I began my teaching career after moving to China.

1997年，我从美国大学毕业两周后搬到了中国。到中国后开始了我的教学生涯。

I have been here so long and seen so many changes. I no longer carry cash. I no longer stand in the rain trying to hail a taxi. I don’t need to go out to a restaurant when the weather is inclement. Everything is on my phone, and it is secure. I don’t worry about losing my wallet. In fact, I don’t even carry one, just a credit card holder with my apartment card and a few credit cards.
我在这里待了很久，见证了非常多的变化。我不再带现金了，也不用再站在雨中叫出租车。天气恶劣时，我也不需要去餐馆了。所有东西都在我的手机上，而且很安全。我不用担心钱包会丢。事实上，我现在连钱包都不带了，只带着一个卡包，装着我的公寓门卡和几张信用卡。

For qualified professionals possessing degrees and experience relevant to their intended fields, I’ve found the process （of getting residency permits and work visas）has been simplified. I am in agreement with this shift towards identifying the types of people you need to contribute to society and easing the process for allowing them to come over, properly vetting their credentials, and empowering them to benefit industries with their expertise.
对于那些拥有相关学位和经验的专业人士来说，我发现(获取签证和居留证的)过程已经被简化了。我同意这种转变，确定哪些能为社会做出贡献的人才，放宽允许他们来（中国）的程序，适当审查他们的资格证书，并授权他们以其专业知识造福各行各业。
