The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Monday that the 93rd Oscars ceremony, scheduled to be held on Feb 28 in 2021, will move to April 25 "as a result of the global pandemic caused by COVID-19."
美国电影艺术与科学学院6月15日宣布，因新冠肺炎全球大流行，原定于明年2月28日举行的第93届奥斯卡颁奖典礼将推迟到4月25日举行。
The coronavirus epidemic shut down movie theaters worldwide in mid-March and brought production of films to a halt.

It was only the fourth time in the 93-year history of the Academy Awards that the date has been changed; in 1938, due to floods in Los Angeles, in 1968 because of the assassination of civil rights leader Dr Martin Luther King Jr, and in 1981 after the attempted assassination of then-President Ronald Reagan.

The new date for the Oscars is expected to prompt the Golden Globes and other awards shows to also reschedule their events.

>Beidou satellite launch postponed
北斗组网卫星推迟发射
The launch mission for the final satellite in the third-generation network of China's Beidou Navigation Satellite System has been postponed due to technical issues, according to the mission command.
来自北斗三号工程任务指挥中心的消息，因技术问题，第三代北斗导航系统的最后一颗全球组网卫星发射任务推迟。
The command said in a statement on Tuesday morning that "technical problems on products" of the Long March 3B carrier rocket were spotted during pre-launch checks, leading to postponement. The new date for the launch has yet to be decided, it said.
任务指挥中心6月16日上午发布声明称，由于执行发射任务的长征三号乙运载火箭在临射前测试过程中发现产品技术问题，发射任务推迟，新的发射时间待定。
The mission was scheduled to take place at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province on Tuesday morning. The satellite to be lifted is the 55th in the Beidou family and 30th in the third-generation series.
此次发射任务原定于6月16日上午在四川省西昌卫星发射中心执行，将发射北斗系统第55颗组网卫星，也是第30颗北斗三号卫星。
The launch will mark the completion of the Beidou network.
这颗卫星的发射将标志着北斗导航系统的建成。

>Disease control measures enhanced

Many regions across the country have started taking strengthened epidemic prevention and control measures, after three provinces reported confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases related to patients with the infectious disease in Beijing.

>Order addressing police reform

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he will sign an executive order on police reform on Tuesday.

The move comes amid growing calls for action following the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African American man, in police custody in Minneapolis, Minn., last month, which has triggered nationwide demonstrations against police brutality and racism.
