France Football has announced there will be no Ballon d'Or award ceremony in 2020.

The award ceremony had been scheduled to take place as usual in December, where the best players in the game over the previous 12 months would be presented with the prestigious awards.
今年的金球奖颁奖典礼原计划同往年一样在12月举行，过去一年里足坛表现最佳的运动员将被授予这一荣誉奖项。
France Football said in a statement that the prize will not be awarded this year for the first time since it was launched in 1956 due to the 2019-20 season being disrupted by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The historic Beefeater guards are facing layoffs for what is believed to be the first time in their 500-year history as part of "heartbreaking" measures to cut costs at the Tower of London following the coronavirus crisis.

The Ministry of Education has asked organizers of national competitions for primary and secondary students to double-check the authenticity and originality of past prize winners.

National competitions should not far exceed students' cognitive abilities, and parents and others should not participate in the competitions on behalf of the contestants, the ministry said in a notice on Monday.

The ministry will continue to strictly scrutinize national competitions, and organizers that are found to be seriously violating regulations will be removed from competition white lists and not be allowed to host competitions again, it said.

>Phase 2 trial finds vaccine safe

A phase 2 trial of a COVID-19 vaccine candidate conducted in China has found that the vaccine is safe and induces an immune response, according to a new study published Monday in medical journal The Lancet.
根据7月20日在医学期刊《柳叶刀》上发表的最新研究，在我国进行的一款新冠候选疫苗的二期临床试验发现，该疫苗是安全的且可以诱发免疫反应。
"The phase 2 trial adds further evidence on safety and immunogenicity in a large population than the phase 1 trial. This is an important step in evaluating this early-stage experimental vaccine and phase 3 trials are now underway," said Professor Zhu Fengcai from Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

According to The Lancet, the trial of the Ad5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine candidate was conducted in Wuhan with 508 participants taking part.
