>Rural income on upward climb
城乡居民收入差距缩小
Rural earnings have been rising steadily in China, and the wealth gap between rural and urban residents is narrowing, said Liu Huanxin, vice-minister of agriculture and rural affairs.
在10月27日的国新办新闻发布会上，农业农村部副部长刘焕鑫介绍，我国农村居民收入稳步上升，城乡居民收入差距持续缩小。
In the first three quarters of this year, disposable income for rural residents averaged 12,297 yuan, a 1.6% increase over the previous year after adjustments for inflation.
刘焕鑫表示，今年前三季度农村居民人均可支配收入达到12297元，实际增长1.6%。
"The growth rate for the quarter is expected to continue to rise, and rural people will get a stronger sense of gain and happiness as we are nearing the goal of building a moderately prosperous society," he said at a Tuesday news conference held by the State Council Information Office.
第四季度增速有望继续提高，小康之年农民将有更多获得感。
In 2008, the central government first put forward the goal of doubling rural income from 2010 to 2020.
2008年，中央政府首次提出了"2020年农民人均收入较2010年翻番"的目标。
By the end of last year, the annual disposable income for rural residents exceeded 16,000 yuan, marking the completion of the goal a year ahead of schedule.
截至去年年底，我国农村居民人均可支配收入突破1.6万元，农民收入提前实现翻番目标。
"The growth rate of rural earnings has been higher than that of urban incomes for 10 straight years," Liu added. As a result, the urban to rural income ratio shrank from 2.73:1 in 2015 to 2.64:1 in 2019.
刘焕鑫还表示，农村居民收入增速连续10年高于城镇居民，城乡居民收入差距由2015年的2.73:1缩小到2019年的2.64:1。

>Quiet carriage service
京沪高铁将推'静音车厢'
High-speed trains between Beijing and Shanghai will have quiet carriages by the end of this year.
京沪高铁将于年底前推出"静音车厢"。
The upgrade will provide a more tranquil and comfortable ambience for travelers. Passengers willing to obey the rules can choose the "quiet carriage" while booking tickets on the website or mobile app 12306, according to the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway Co Ltd.
京沪高速铁路股份有限公司表示，"静音车厢"可为旅客提供更加安静舒适的旅行环境，愿意遵守相应行为规范的旅客，通过12306网站和手机客户端等购票时可自行选择"静音车厢"。
In a quiet carriage, onboard videos will be muted, and announcements made at a lower volume.
在"静音车厢"中，车载视频将采用静音方式播放，车厢广播也会调低音量。
Doors at the ends of the carriage will be kept closed to reduce noise.
车厢两端的门也会关闭，以减少噪音。
The service is expected to start trial operations as early as Dec 23 with no specific regulations released yet, China State Railway Group said.
中国国家铁路集团表示，这项服务最早将于12月23日开始试运行，具体规定尚未公布。
The company will also initiate a flexible pricing mechanism, offering preferential ticket prices for commuters and frequent business travelers.

Under the system, the ticket price for a second-class seat will be between 598 and 498 yuan.

>Water found on surface of moon
月球太阳照射面发现水
NASA's Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) has confirmed, for the first time, water on the sunlit surface of the moon, the agency announced on Monday.
美国国家航空航天局(NASA)10月26日称，其"平流层红外天文台(SOFIA)"首次确认在月球的太阳照射面存在水。
This discovery indicates water may be distributed across the lunar surface, and not limited to cold, shadowed places.
这一发现表明水可能分布在整个月球表面，而不仅限于寒冷、处于阴影的区域。
"We confirmed water on the sunlit surface of the Moon for the 1st time using @SOFIAtelescope. We don't know yet if we can use it as a resource, but learning about water on the Moon is key for our #Artemis exploration plans," NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine tweeted.
NASA局长吉姆•布里登斯廷发布推文称："SOFIA天文台首次确认月球的太阳照射面存在水，目前尚不清楚是否可以使用，但了解月球上的水是'阿耳忒弥斯'探月计划的关键。"
SOFIA's follow-up flights will look for water in additional sunlit locations and during different lunar phases to learn more about how the water is produced, stored and moved across the moon.

The data will add to the work of future moon missions, to create the first water resource maps of the moon for future human space exploration, according to NASA.

SOFIA is a joint project of NASA and the German Aerospace Center.

>Restaurant opens near Giza Pyramids

Egypt launched its first tourist restaurant at the Giza Pyramids plateau late on Oct 20.
埃及吉萨金字塔景区首家观景餐厅于10月20日夜间开张。
Dubbed "9 Pyramids Lounge," the restaurant covers an area of 1,341 square meters and overlooks the pyramids. "One of the problems always faced is people say there are no special services for tourists, that there is no cafeteria, no restaurant, nothing that can be offered to visitors," said Mostafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
餐厅名为"九金字塔休息室"，面积1341平方米，可以远眺吉萨金字塔。埃及最高文物委员会秘书长穆斯塔法•瓦齐里说："吉萨金字塔景区游客经常抱怨景区服务不周，没有快餐厅、没有餐厅，不能向游客提供任何服务，这是我们面临的一大问题"。
There will also be a fleet of new environmentally friendly buses to guide tourists around the plateau. The new facilities can all be easily taken apart and reassembled so as to protect the antiquities, and Waziri said the open-air restaurant offered "a panorama view that cannot be matched anywhere in the world ".
