云南、青海地震：已预拨中央自然灾害救灾资金1000万元

5月21日夜间到5月22日凌晨，云南大理州漾濞县和青海果洛州玛多县先后发生地震，引发全国关注。

Earthquakes that rattled the provinces of Yunnan and Qinghai over the weekend left three people dead and dozens injured. The three deaths were reported in Yunnan.

Four earthquakes over 5.0-magnitude struck the Yangbi Yi autonomous county in Dali Bai autonomous prefecture of Yunnan from 9 pm to 11 pm on Friday. The tremors were felt in all 12 counties and cities of the prefecture, with Yangbi being the worst hit. By 3 pm Saturday, seven people were severely injured and 25 others had minor injuries.
5月21日晚9点至11点，云南大理白族自治州漾濞彝族自治县发生5.0级以上地震4次，该州12个县市均有震感，漾濞县受损最严重。截至5月22日下午3点，地震已造成7人重伤，25人轻伤。

A few hours later, at 2:04 am Saturday, a 7.4-magnitude quake jolted Madoi county in the Golog Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Qinghai, in the northwest of the country.The Ministry of Emergency Management said 11 people had minor injuries.The county is located over 4,000 meters above sea level.
几个小时后，5月22日凌晨2点04分，青海果洛藏族自治州玛多县发生7.4级地震。该地区海拔在4000米以上。应急管理部表示，有11人在地震中受轻伤。

【知识点】

地震的强度（magnitude）一般按照里氏震级（Richter Scale）划分，它是将震级范围从1到10的一种对数标度，用以表现地震放出的能量总数，是根据美国地震学家Charles Francis Richter 命名的。在英文报道中，“X级地震”常用X on the Richter Scale、magnitude-X earthquake或者 a X magnitude earthquake/quake表示，比如：The tremor was placed at 5.6 on the Richter scale.（地震的震级被测定为里氏5.6级。）A powerful magnitude-7.6 earthquake struck off the Solomon Islands on Monday.（周一，所罗门群岛发生了里氏7.6级地震。）

China has allocated 10 million yuan from its central budget for disaster relief to the provinces of Yunnan and Qinghai. The emergency funds, allocated by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management, will be used to aid disaster relief and ensure people's livelihoods in the affected areas.

【词汇讲解】

两处地震没有关联性

中国地震台网中心等部门的专家经过会商指出，两次地震地处我国不同断裂带，不做关联性分析。

There was no causal relationship between the Yunnan and Qinghai quakes, but they shared the same root cause, Sun Shihong, a researcher at the China Earthquake Networks Center, said. "Both earthquakes were affected by the squeezing of the Indian Ocean plate against the Eurasian plate," Sun said.
中国地震台网中心研究员孙士鋐表示，云南和青海地震没有关联。不过，这两处地震产生的原因相同，都是由于印度板块挤压欧亚板块导致的。
