Small sticker ads litter the steps of a
pedestrian bridge on the Third Ring Road in Beijing. These ads are currently all
the rage in Beijing because they're much cheaper than other media advertising.
Bill stickers hired to paste or hand
out - sometimes forcefully - advertising to passers-by are worsening the
capital's already congested streets.

sticker就是我们甚为熟悉、甚为反感的“打贴小广告的人”,有时可单独写做“sticker”。Sticker源于动词stick(粘;贴),在这里显然是指“张贴广告的人”;Bill除用来形容我们常见的“议案;法案;账单”外,也可指“an
advertising poster”(广告传单),或用作动词“登广告”,如:Lewis was billed to appear as
Hamlet.(据海报载,哈姆雷特由刘易斯扮演。)
另外,sticker也可用来形容“坚持不懈的人”或“久呆不走的客人”,举两个例子:
He may not be a man of
ability, but he is a firm sticker.(他虽然没有多大本领,但他坚韧不拔。)
Mother says she
doesn't want any sticker in the
house.(妈妈说家里不要有久坐不走的客人。)
