报道中的alma mater就是我们常说的“母校”。Alma mater是个拉丁词，原指“kind mother”（慈母），现常用来形容“母校”或“高校的校歌”。如例句：We must try to reflect credit on our Alma Mater.（我们必须设法为母校争光。）

另外，拉丁词alumni指的是“男校友”，alumna则是“女校友”。
