|FIFA inspects Olympic football preparations

A FIFA delegation led by Deputy
President Issa Hayatou arrived in Beijing on
Thursday and met with the staff of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the
Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG, including those from its Sport, Games
Services and other departments), discussing the latest development of the
preparatory work for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Following the talks, the FIFA (Federation Internationale
de Football Association) delegation visited the hotel for the Olympic
footballers. The members of the delegation spoke highly of the conditions of the
new hotel which will go into operation soon.
Delegation members also toured the National Stadium which hosts the opening
and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games and the football finals. Deeply
impressed by the building's style, the delegation expected successful football
competitions in such an elegant facility.
Sources said FIFA's inspection tour already covered Shanghai
and Tianjin and on Friday the delegation will go to Shenyang to continue its
inspection on Olympic preparations.
