The Cinema Against AIDS series was launched in 1993 at the Cannes
International Film Festival and expanded in 2000 to include events at both the
Sundance and Venice Film Festivals. Held each May since 1995, Cinema Agaist AIDS
Cannes is the signature Cinema Against AIDS event and one of amfAR's primary
vehicles for focusing attention on the continued fight against AIDS. This
black-tie gala has been chaired by such luminaries as Elizabeth Taylor, Sharon
Stone, Sir Elton John, and Demi Moore and consistently attracts a star-studded
guest list.
