Pretty girl becomes a dangerous distraction
An old man was knocked unconscious when he walked into a telephone pole because he was staring so intently at a pretty young woman walking on a street in Changchun, Jilin, on Sunday.
He was found lying next to the pole, surrounded by a group of smiling onlookers, said a cab driver, surnamed Wang, who witnessed the incident.
Wang rushed the old man to the nearest hospital, where he eventually came to his senses thanks to the help of doctors, who advised the poor patient not to repeat such a mistake next time.
Police, judges barred from on-the-job drinking
The Guangdong provincial government has banned local police, judges and prosecutors from drinking during inspection tours.
The move is aimed at ensuring a fair application of the law and preventing corruption in the province's public security, judicial and procuratorial departments.
Those who break the ban will be seriously punished and even face prosecution.
The move is without precedent.
Boy proves he's royalty when it comes to theft
Police detained a 14-year-old boy surnamed Lin - who is perhaps better known by the soubriquet "the king of vehicle theft"- in Wengyuan County, Guangdong Province, early this week.
After a three-month investigation, police caught up with Lin as he was selling the cars he had stolen.
Lin, a primary school dropout, previously stole 23 vehicles worth more than a combined 1 million yuan ($130,000) in less than a year. Lin learned to drive when he was 12 and soon became the county's youngest car thief.
Real estate competition devolves into turf battle
A real estate agent was attacked by competitors while out searching for customers in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong, on Tuesday.
The victim, a 22-year-old woman surnamed Kwok, was looking for customers on Tuesday evening when she was punched in the face by a woman from a competing agency. Kwok's colleague, surnamed Luk, tried to help her, but was intercepted by other sales people from the competing agency.
Police are looking for the assailants, who escaped afterwards.
