Beijing, China (November 1, 2007) — Educational Testing Service (ETS) announced today that the TOEFL® iBT facts quiz online competition has officially launched in mainland China. The two-month nationwide online competition is being offered to broaden Chinese test takers’ understanding about the TOEFL exam, provide them with testing information and enhance their English abilities, one of the keys to a successful overseas academic experience. ETS is sponsoring the TOEFL® iBT online competition with the theme “Go Anywhere From Here,” while Tencent Education is the exclusive website partner for this competition.

As the most recognized academic English exam in the world, TOEFL scores are accepted by more than 6,000 institutions in more than 110 countries and regions. The new form of TOEFL exam, launched in September 2006 in China and known as the TOEFL® iBT, measures all four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and combines them in integrated tasks by simulating actual academic situations. This TOEFL online competition provides future test takers with an opportunity to learn about and experience the exam as well as a chance to win a free TOEFL® iBT testing session.

The TOEFL online competition begins on November 1, 2007, and will end on December 31, 2007. Participants can visit Tencent Education at http://edu.qq.com/ets.shtml and follow online instructions to participate in the competition. Free laptops, free TOEFL® iBT vouchers, free TPO vouchers and copies of The Official Guide to the new TOEFL® iBT will be offered as prizes for lucky winners.
