The CPC Central Committee held a democratic consultative conference on Wednesday in Beijing.
The CPC central committee briefed the non-communist parties, the all China Federation of Industry and Commerce and non-party figures on its decision to deepen political reform and advance socialist democracy.
The committee also presented a list of candidates for state leadership positions and leadership of the CPPCC. It also listened to their views and suggestions.
CPC Central Committee General Secretary Hu Jintao presided over the meeting. He stressed that the Party Congress has set the goals of setting a service-oriented government and speeding up reforms of the executive management system.
Hu Jintao said choosing state leaders who are supported by the people is of crucial importance for new achievements in constructing an all around moderately prosperous society. It's also important for opening a new era for the construction of a socialist society with China's own characteristics.
Wen Jiabao presented to the conference the two documents approved by the CPC central committee session. They are on deepening the country's administrative system and the institutional restructuring of the State Council.
