Can British accents be classified? What categories are they?
Anonymous
Britain is a small country but has large number of accents.
Many accents are named after the cities they come from - Mancunian is from Manchester, Liverpudlian from Liverpool and Glaswegian is from Glasgow.
The London accent though is called 'Cockney'.
And you also have RP, that stands for Received Pronunciation and that is essentially neutral English.
Join Kate and Wang Fei as they discuss some different accents and hear from Emma from the London Speech Centre.
