About 17,000 telecom and online fraud suspects have been captured since June 25, said Zheng Xiang, deputy head of the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, at a news conference on Tuesday. The ministry launched a nationwide operation targeting criminal fraud from June 25 to Sept 30.
中国公安部刑事侦查局副局长郑翔日前在发布会上表示，自今年6月25日公安部部署开展夏季治安打击整治行动以来，抓获电诈嫌疑人1.7万名。

Public security departments in Yunnan province and other regions were asked to strengthen the fight against online scams and further cooperate with law enforcement departments in Myanmar, given the prevalence of online fraud in northern Myanmar targeting Chinese citizens on the mainland, Zheng said. So far, 2,317 suspects involved in telecom fraud have been handed over to China's police by Myanmar law enforcement, according to the ministry.
郑翔表示，针对群众反映强烈的缅北涉我电信网络诈骗犯罪，公安部部署云南等地公安机关持续推进专项打击行动，与缅甸相关地方执法部门开展边境警务合作，目前已有2317名涉诈犯罪嫌疑人移交我方。

China Coast Guard spokesperson Gan Yu said in a statement that a Philippine navy gunboat on Tuesday insisted on trespassing into the waters adjacent to China's Huangyan Island, despite repeated warnings from the Chinese side.

The operation was conducted in accordance with regulations, and legitimately, the spokesman added.

Gan said that China holds indisputable sovereignty over Huangyan Island and its adjacent waters, and has sovereign rights and jurisdiction over the waters.

The actions of the Philippine side violated Chinese sovereignty and seriously contravened international law and basic norms of international relations, said the statement, urging the Philippine side to immediately stop its acts of infringement.
