And I'm Beth. We have a word which is all about having a claim on something, making sure you say what you want before anyone else takes it. The word is 'dibs'. And it's often used in the expression 'call dibs'. 

Jiaying
Call dibs. 如果某人使用表达 “call dibs”，意思其实就是 “抢先提出要某样东西，因此可以优先获得它”。Beth，这个表达在日常生活中具体怎么用，你能给我们讲讲吗？ 

Beth
Well, you know that pizza we were eating earlier, the really delicious one, there's one slice left and I want it! 

Jiaying
You better call dibs then! 那你最好先向大家提出来想吃这最后一块披萨饼，好赶在其他人之前把它拿下。 

Beth
I will, as soon as we're done here! Err. By the way, for dinner tonight, are you driving everyone to the restaurant? 

Jiaying         
I am. 我今天会开车接你、Neil 和菲菲去一家餐厅聚餐。Neil 总想坐在副驾驶的位置，所以你要是想坐在我旁边，最好抢先提出来。You should probably call dibs on the front seat if you want to sit with me! 

Beth
I will! In fact, I'll do it now. Dibs sitting in the front! Now, no one can fight me for the best seat. Let's hear some more examples.

Examples
Wow, that slice of chocolate cake is huge. I call dibs on it! 

We all need to be in teams for this game. Dibs being on a team with Stephanie.

There are six of us but only three chairs. Dibs a seat.
