About Adora Svitak

Adora Svitak is a 10-year-old author. The Chinese-American began writing stories when she was four  and has published a compilation of her work called "Flying Fingers".

A few years ago she caught the media's attention, interviewed by people including ABC anchor Diane Sawyer and Oprah Winfrey.

Svitak spends a lot of her time reading and writing as well as teaching young people how to write.

She was recently on her Asian tour through Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong before arriving in Beijing.

Today my guest is Adora Svitak. She's a 10-year-old American-Chinese who has dazzled people around the world with her writing abilities.

Adora's the author of "Flying Fingers" and is currently on her Asian tour. She was recently in Hong Kong and Vietnam before coming to China. Adora joins me now at the International School of Beijing.

The questions for Adora:

1. How many times have you been to Beijing?

4. What are you doing on your Asian tour?

5. You've been writing stories for nearly 6 years. How did you start doing it?

6. What do you like about writing?

7. You read a lot of books. What kinds of book do you like and why?

8. Have you read any Chinese stories?

9. You write a variety of different kinds of stories. How do you come up with ideas for them?

10. Can you explain your process of writing a story from beginning to end?

11. You once said you were not satisfied with the female characters you read about. So what kind of female characters do you want to create?

12. What kind of woman do you want to become?

13. Now you have published a book and become famous. Do you like the media attention that you're getting?

14. Does it distract you from what you really want to do which is writing?

15. What do you think of the names the media gives you, like 'world's smartest kid' and 'tiny literary giant'?
