8月17日，中国小将苏辉在男子单人双桨补充赛中表现出色，李倩和徐东香组成的最佳搭档在女子轻量级双人双桨补充赛中也不负众望，三位选手成功冲入半决赛。新华网报道如下：Chinese Su Hui, in men's single sculls, together with Li Qian and Xu Dongxiang competing in women's lightweight double sculls, made it to the semis in the repechage here on Tuesday. Scull表示“短桨，小划艇”，其复数形式Sculls表示“双桨比赛”，例如：single sculls（单人双桨比赛），double sculls（双人双桨比赛），（guadruple sculls）四人双桨赛艇比赛。据悉，本届奥运会水上项目将产生41枚金牌，中国选手获得了21个参赛资格，派出了41名选手。这是中国选手在历届奥运会中获得参赛资格最多的一次。
