文中variety show是"杂耍"的意思。此处的"show"means a theatrical performance or a television or a radio programme which is entertaining rather than serious（演出；节目）。如上面第一句中的talk show意思是"(电视、无线电)访问节目, 座谈节目"，又如：chat show（电视台）现场访问节目；dumb show哑剧；手势；quiz show智力竞赛节目等等。
