自上月底印尼政府宣布大幅提高国内燃油价格以来，印尼新增失业人数7万人。油价攀升使印尼的就业压力增大，据预测，到今年年底，新增失业人数将达到10万人。

报道如下：The chairman said that some 300,00 workers were from medium and large-size industries, while the remaining 200,000 workers were from small-size industries. "Laying of workers is a tough decision to make because of the strong relation with workers and the highseverance pay," he said.

Severance pay 指的是“解雇费、离职金”，也就是根据受雇时间长短，给达到离职标准的雇员的一笔钱。Severance有“断绝、隔绝”，“契约中止或合同到期”的意思，例如：severance benefit（退职福利金）；severance wage（解雇时加发的工资）等等。
