据报道，10月份，全国70个大中城市新建商品住房销售价格同比上涨6.4%，涨幅比上月提高0.1个百分点；高档住房销售价格同比上涨7.7%，涨幅比上月提高0.7个百分点。

“同比增长”常见于各种新闻数据报道。英文中，“同比”可用“year-on-year”来表达，指“与上年同期数字相比的”。相应的，“同期增长”则为“year-on-year rise”或“year-on-year growth”。

由此，报道中的“year-on-year rises of 7.7 per cent”可理解为：“与去年同期相比增长7.7%”，或者，“同比增长7.7%”。
