图片上的小家伙日前人气很旺,大家说这位“俯卧撑小子”简直要挑战吉尼斯记录了。“俯卧撑小子”陆地今年六岁,是河南一所武术学校的学生。他的拿手绝活就是做俯卧撑,能在200分钟内一口气做完10000个俯卧撑。

报道中的pushup就是“俯卧撑”,显然,pushup由动词词组push up(增加,提高)演变而来,“up”不言而喻指“向上”。
这里顺便再提几个与up有关体育项目:sit-up指“仰卧起坐”,chin-up和pull-up指“引体向上”,而chin-up和pull-up的区别在于手握单杠的方式不同(见图)。
最后,再介绍两个有关push的俚语用法,get the push指“解雇”;而push
drugs可用来形容“贩毒”。
