报道中的“domain name”指的就是“域名”，也可写作“internet domain name”。

值得一提的是，“domain name”（域名）和“internet address”（网址）不是一回事儿。

一般来说，在通过注册获得了一个域名后，在域名前面加上一个具有一定标识意义的字符串（根据网址所载信息内容的性质，如mail、www、pop3、abcd……等二级域名）才构成一个网址。比如，以www.chinadaily.com.cn/为例，chinadaily.com.cn为域名，而www.chinadaily.com.cn/才是网址。

此外，注册域名可表达为“to register a domain name”，其相应的名词形式则为“registration of domain names”。
