Man in malaria coma after Libya visit
A healthy businessman from Benxi, Liaoning, went into a coma
for 18 days after returning from Libya where he stayed for just half-a-day to
make a deal with his local partner.
Weeks ago, Lu ran a high fever and
went to hospital to treat what he thought was an ordinary cold. Later, he became
unconscious from the chills and shivering characteristic of acute malaria. "He
had the worst malaria we've ever seen," said doctors after a blood test. Lu was
discharged from hospital on Tuesday.

them to eateries
A migrant worker has been put behind bars for

wild birds in his dorm. A court said Bai's actions posed a threat to the health
of residents as he sold the dead birds to roadside restaurants where they were
served as barbecued foods.
Talking mynah catches thief
off-guard
A thief in Taiwan was caught on the spot last Tuesday
after a caged mynah in the temple he broke into suddenly greeted him in the
local dialect, scaring him off his motorcycle.
Zhang sneaked into the
altar at noon and as he was moving the money box to his motorcycle, the mynah
shouted at him, "What are you doing here?" Zhang was so startled that he and his
motorcycle both fell.
Hearing the loud noise from the altar, the bird's
owner rushed in and caught the thief. He said the mynah was good at talking and
singing and gave the bird a food treat for its fine performance.
Noisy lover sparks university ire
A student in
Qingdao, Shandong Province who made much noise of his love, had to contend with
disciplinary action from the university authorities recently.
A few days
ago, Su beat a drum in the university dining hall attracting crowds of
onlookers. He shouted the name of his girlfriend while some of his friends
upheld a banner on which was written "I will never regret loving you". The young
lovers then embraced tightly to huge applause from other students.
But
soon, the campus security guards arrived and took Su away. Two days later, the
university issued a notice punishing Su for "seriously disturbing order on
campus".
