I like here. The Water Cube is fantastic!
British divers, the first batch of divers to train in the Water Cube, spoke highly of the Chinese National Aquatic Center after completing their training session Tuesday morning.
The British diving team, who arrived in Beijing on Monday, couldn't wait to train in the blue-toned Water Cube, coming here early on Tuesday.
Thomas Daley, 14, the youngest diver in the Beijing Olympics, entered the venue first and looked quite excited and amused.
"The Water Cube is fantastic," said the teenager happily.
The divers started training at 10:35 and left at 11:45.
"Brilliant!" Daley said after the training. "Though it's my first Olympics, I am not nervous, but very, very excited."
"Everything's going well," he added.
Daley will compete in the men's 10 meters platform, both individual and synchronized.
It's the second time Daley visited the Water Cube. He was the bronze medallist of the men's 10m platform synchronized event at the FINA Diving World Cup last February.
Only five months on, he looked a litter taller, but the most eye-catching difference was the color of his skin, which is well-tanned this time after a holiday at Spain's seaside.
"I went to Spain!" said Daley.
"Daley's performance is on a high level and quite consistent," said Steve Foley, team leader of the British diving team. "He's very excited about the Games."
"But it's hard to say what result he will get," added the team leader. "He's still too young."
"In the 10m platform, there are lots of very good divers in the world, and it's very hard to say who will win the gold," said Foley. "Countries like China, USA, Russia and Cuba are all quite hopeful."
The British diving team was quite satisfied with the Water Cube. "It's amazing," said Foley. "Compared with the World Cup, it's more colorful and beautiful now. The atmosphere is more exciting."
According to Foley, the British diving team will go to west China's Xi'an to have a five or six days training on July 31 before coming back for the competition.
