The "Law Enforcement" torch run for the 2007 Shanghai Special Olympics Summer Games has started across China.
Beijing Mayor Wang Qishan was on hand to light up the flame at the Temple of Heaven. He then handed it to "Law Enforcement" torch bearers, inaugurating the Beijing leg of the Torch run. The route in Beijing covers most of the city'siconic attractions, highlighting the importance of the event. The Torch Run is also currently taking place in 11 other cities that will be responsible for receiving Special Athletes from around the world. The flames of all the torches will then converge to light the cauldron on October 2nd when the Games open in Shanghai.
