>Browser warns of fake news
微软浏览器识别假新闻
Microsoft is helping you battle fake news on your phone: Its Edge browser now tells you how reliable sites are. The company started installing the NewsGuard plug-in on all mobile versions of the browser, as reported by The Guardian. After turning on news rating in Edge's settings menu, you can see NewsGuard's shield icon in the browser's address bar whenever you visit a news site. Green indicates a reliable outlet, while red suggests you should be skeptical about what you read. The plug-in rates sites based on various criteria including repeated publishing of false content, deceptive headlines and methods of gathering information, in addition to revealing the site's ownership, credibility history and transparency.

>Railway launches surreal signs
日地铁推错视立体标志
Japanese major railway operator Keikyu Corp unveiled two surreal signs seen through an optical illusion at Tokyo's Haneda Airport International Terminal Station on Monday to point passengers to elevators to underground train platforms. One 3D image of a sign appears to pop up from the floor as a person approaches it. Another visual illusion in the floor pointing in the same direction creates a "bottomless" arrow filled with a blue sky and white clouds. Keikyu hopes the signs on the second floor of the station's concourse linking directly with the airport's arrival lobby will stick out so passengers don't miss often-overlooked elevators reaching the train platforms and improve the flow of people through the area.
>Pop songs become angrier
流行歌曲变得更加悲愤
Pop songs have become angrier and sadder over the past 60 years, experts say. Researchers analyzed lyrics in best-selling songs from the 1950s to 2016 to find expressions of anger and sadness had increased, while words about joy had dropped. Tones expressed in each song were analyzed using "automatic quantitative sentiment" which looked at each word or phrase in the song with a set of tones they express. The combination of the tones expressed by all words and phrases of the lyrics determines the sentiment of that song. Study co-author Lior Shamir, of Lawrence Technological University in Michigan, said: "The change in lyric sentiments does not necessarily reflect what the musicians and songwriters wanted to express, but is more related to what music consumers wanted to listen to in each year."
>MPs back Brexit amendment
英议会通过脱欧修正案
The British Parliament has backed seeking "alternative arrangements" to replace the Irish backstop in Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit plan. The amendment - put forward by Tory MP Graham Brady - had the support of the government and won by 16 votes. May had urged members of the Parliament to vote in favor of it, to give her a mandate to return to Brussels and reopen negotiations in order to secure a "legally binding change". But the EU has said it will not change the legal text agreed on with the UK prime minister.
