The United States' unbeaten run in the men's 4x100 metres medley ended at the Paris Olympics on Sunday as China swept to a seismic win at La Defense Arena.

China will actively expand domestic demand and put consumption promotion at a more prominent position in the next step, Yuan Da, a senior official with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) told a press conference Thursday.
国家发展改革委副秘书长袁达在1日的新闻发布会上表示，下一步中国将积极扩大内需，把促消费放在更加突出的位置。

The NDRC will launch efforts to boost consumption of major commodities such as automobiles and home appliances, and to improve and expand the quality and capacity of service consumption in education, elderly care, child care, and domestic services, Yuan said.
袁达表示，将促进汽车、家电等大宗商品消费，推动教育、养老、育幼、家政等服务消费提质扩容。

Support will be given to the high-quality development of cultural and sports tourism, Yuan said, adding that continuous optimization of convenience measures for personnel exchanges will be made to make travel in China more convenient and comfortable for foreign visitors.
袁达表示，将支持文体旅游高质量发展，不断优化人员往来便利措施，让外国朋友在中国旅行更方便、更舒适。

China's Pan Zhanle set a new world record as he stormed to victory in the men's 100m freestyle final at the Paris Olympics on July 31. Pan touched the wall in 46.40 seconds.
7月31日，在巴黎奥运会游泳项目男子100米自由泳决赛中，中国选手潘展乐以46秒40的成绩夺冠并打破世界纪录。

【知识点】
游泳这一行为的出现可以追溯到史前时代，但直到十九世纪，游泳才被作为一项竞技体育运动而被接受。游泳从1896年首届现代奥运会开始从未缺席过奥运会，最初的奥运会游泳比赛采用的泳姿为自由泳（爬泳）或蛙泳。如今，奥运会的游泳比赛在长度为50米的泳池里进行，比赛分为个人赛和接力赛，包含四大泳姿的比赛——蛙泳、蝶泳、仰泳和爬泳；爬泳主要运用在自由泳比赛中，所以爬泳也可以称为自由泳。

男子100米自由泳是竞技游泳比赛项目之一。此前，男子100米自由泳世界纪录是46秒86，由罗马尼亚选手波波维奇于2022年8月13日在欧洲游泳锦标赛上创造，后来这一纪录被中国运动员潘展乐在2024年多哈游泳世锦赛上以46秒80的成绩打破。

2024年7月31日，巴黎奥运会游泳比赛在拉德芳斯体育馆继续进行，潘展乐以46秒40的成绩夺得男子100米自由泳冠军，并打破自己保持的世界纪录。这是中国游泳运动员首次登上该项目奥运最高领奖台，潘展乐也是巴黎奥运会游泳赛场首位打破世界纪录的运动员。
