美国“Karen”梗火了……网上人人喊打，这究竟是个什么人设？

最近，Karen这个名字在美国变得似乎特别招人恨。

社交媒体上，不断能看到人们对Karen的嘲讽吐槽，仿佛Karen是过街老鼠一般：

今天也就才屏蔽了26个Karen吧，我得加把劲了。

Karen啥也不是，不信你去我上班的酒吧问问看，人人都这么说。

Karen们，老实在家呆着吧。

我再也受不了这些Karen了。希望老天让我遇上一个，我不知道别人是怎么能忍住不发火的，我可不行。

所以，Karen到底是谁？怎么几乎到了人人喊打的地步？

带着这些疑问，我们看看网上那些“Karen名场面”。

其中最著名的，就是那位纽约中央公园Karen了。一名黑人男子要求她拴住她的狗后，她出言不逊地报了警，还向警察捏造了罪名。

Kroger Karen, named after the supermarket chain, blocked an African-American mother’s car so the woman couldn’t leave the market’s parking lot.

“克罗格卡伦”(Kroger Karen)以事发的连锁超市命名的，她挡住了一位非洲裔美国母亲的汽车，使其无法把车开出超市的停车场。

Whitefish Karen (named for her town in Montana) coughed on a couple when they called her out for not wearing a mask inside a grocery store.

Karen其实是一个名字梗，代指中年、白人、歧视有色人种的女性，她们喜欢抱怨、小题大做、不相信科学、处处不配合。

堪萨斯州立大学的Heather Suzanne Woods教授认为:

“A Karen demands the world exist according to her standards with little regard for others, and she is willing to risk or demean others to achieve her ends.”

“Karen们要求世界按照她们的标准存在，很少考虑别人，她们愿意冒着风险或贬低别人来达到自己的目的。”

杂志编辑Rachel Charlene Lewis认同该解读：

“A Karen sees no one as an individual, instead moving through the world prepared to fight faceless conglomerate of lesser-than people who won’t give her what she wants and feels she deserves.”

“Karen并不把人看做个体，相反，他们把人看做一群面目模糊的乌合之众，时刻做准备，同那些不愿满足她们想当然需求的陌生人展开斗争。”

实际上，名字梗的玩儿法历史悠久。

乔治亚理工大学的AndréBrock教授指出，在美国黑奴制度废除之前，Miss Ann曾被用来指代那些想要对黑人施加权力的白人妇女。

在现代社会，随着视频行业发展，名字梗开始风靡，比如Permit Patty和BBQ Becky。

After a white woman called the police on a group of Black folks barbecuing in a public park, the term "BBQ Becky" was coined.

在所有的名字梗中，Karen流传最广。

2017年，一名Reddit用户在该平台宣泄了对前妻Karen的不满并设立标签，称她在离婚过程中带走了他的孩子和房子。之后，这个标签吸引了超过60万粉丝，大家都在这里分享自己与中年白人妇女不愉快的经历。

In 2017, an anonymous Reddit user went viral on the platform after posting rants about ex-wife Karen, who he said had taken his children and their house during the divorce proceedings.

而美国真人秀嘉宾Kate Gosselin的发型则被网友用来丰富Karen人设。她的侧分金色波波头成为Karen的标志，甚至有了对应的表情包。

新冠病毒Karen

疫情期间，Coronavirus Karen被用来指代不配合戴口罩，社交距离等政策的中年妇女。她们热衷于刁难工作人员，更是随时随地要求“speak to the manager”（和经理谈谈）。

Aggressively refusing to wear a face covering to help protect others from the virus has been seen as a new iteration of the stereotype of the entitled Karen who harasses service industry workers.

一名白人妇女因为不愿意戴口罩超过45分钟而哭泣的视频在网上疯传。

I don't feel good. I can tell you right now I wasn't getting enough oxygen.

我不舒服，此时此刻，我觉得缺氧。

I just want to cry. Because you can't see people's faces, you can't make human connection, we can't hug people, we can't hold their babies.

也有商家为了对付Karen们，在标语上硬核喊话“Grow up Karen”。
