"水落石出"英语不是water down stone out！

“水落石出”的英文难道和“水、石头”有关吗？Water and Stone？水哗哗哗的落下去后石头就漏出来了~

Absolutely not！！

其实大家都知道本成语的意思，实际就是“弄清楚真相”而已啦，和什么山啦水啦没有关系滴~~

那么究竟该如何表达？用这个！！！看过来！

get to the bottom of [ɡet tu ðə ˈbɑːtəm əv]

bottom =臀部；末端

get to the bottom就是去到末端，追根问底，深处挖掘的意思啦，那么搞清楚什么的真相就是of something来表示从属啦~

【例句】

- I'm determined to get to the bottom of this, come hell or high water.

-不管有多大困难，我决心把这件事弄个水落石出。

→come hell or high water = in spite of all obstacles就算天崩地裂 （指不畏险阻，排除万难）

【例句】

- I've always managed to get into work come hell or high water.

-不管发生什么情况，我都没有不上班过。

- We must get to the bottom of the matter.

-我们必须弄清这件事的内情。

02 rock bottom

Rock是岩石。如果往地下钻探，穿过表土层，到最底下才是坚硬的岩层，就是rock bottom。换句话说是最底层的。

rock bottom这个词在金融领域经常可以看到。Rock bottom常用来说价格跌落到最低限度。

- The stock market hits the rock bottom

-股市已跌到最低限度。（言下之意是股票价格下跌到不能再低的程度，可能要反弹了。)

03 bottom dollar

大家早知道dollar是美元，如果你口袋里只剩最底下的那一美元了，你手头一定相当拮据。

- Thank God I finally found a job - I've been out of work for more than a year and I was almost down to my bottom dollar.

-谢天谢地我找到工作了！我已经一年没有工作了，身无分文。

down to one's bottom dollar意思是“几乎到了手无分文的地步，也就是境况窘迫。"
