>China announces massive greening plan
'十四五'将完成国土绿化5亿亩

China plans to plant 33.3 million hectares of forests and grasslands in the next five years - 6.6 million hectares per year - to help achieve its carbon emission reduction goals, according to the country's forestry authorities. The task includes planting 3.6 million hectares of trees and 3 million hectares of grass each year, said Zhang Wei, head of the ecological protection and restoration department of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.
国家林草局生态保护修复司司长张炜近日表示，为完成国家碳减排目标，"十四五"期间，我国规划完成3330万公顷国土绿化任务，每年660万公顷，其中造林绿化360万公顷、种草改良300万公顷。

China aims to increase its forest coverage rate to 24.1 percent and its grassland vegetation coverage to 57 percent by 2025, as outlined in the country's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) on the protection and development of forests and grasslands.
根据"十四五"林业草原保护发展规划纲要，到2025年，我国森林覆盖率将提升到24.1%，草原综合植被盖度将达到57%。

The country has created the world's largest planted forests, raising its forest cover from 12 percent in the early 1980s to 23.04 percent in 2020, with its forest stock volume hitting 17.56 billion cubic meters.
目前我国人工林面积居全球第一，森林覆盖率已由20世纪80年代初的12%提高到2020年的23.04%，森林蓄积量达到175.6亿立方米。

>Universal Beijing Resort to conduct trial run
北京环球度假区9月1日试运行

The long-awaited Universal Beijing Resort will start trial operation on Sept 1, the resort announced on Tuesday.
8月24日，备受期待的北京环球度假区宣布将于9月1日启动试运营。

It will be open to invited guests only during the trial operation, including selected resort partners and a limited number of winners in official marketing activities.
试运行期间，北京环球度假区仅对受邀客人开放，受邀客人包括部分度假区合作伙伴，以及正式市场推广活动中选中的部分粉丝。

Located in the capital's eastern district of Tongzhou, the venue comprises the Universal Studios theme park, Universal CityWalk Beijing and two hotels, along with 37 recreational facilities, themed attractions and dozens of food and beverage outlets.

>Nighttime consumption up
2021夏夜生活报告发布

A new report released by a major food delivery platform（ele. me） in China, said nighttime orders from camping sites, resort hotels and gyms jumped 30 percent or higher this summer compared to orders in spring, and more than doubled compared to summer last year.
中国食品外卖平台饿了么近日发布的《2021饿了么夏夜生活报告》显示，今年夏天以来，夜间露营地、景区度假酒店、健身房等多场景下的外卖单量环比增幅均在三成及以上，同比去年涨幅均在一倍及以上。

Particularly, late-night food orders made from recreational vehicles parked at camping sites surged nearly three times over those in spring.
其中，来自房车露营地的夜宵订单量更是环比增长近2倍。

Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Changsha are listed as the cities with the most dynamic nightlife, with consumers spending a lot at night.

Nighttime consumption of iced drinks surged five times while crawfish sales doubled over the same time period in spring, the report found.

US President Joe Biden on Tuesday told Group of Seven leaders the US aimed at completing Afghan evacuation by Aug 31, while asking for contingency plans to adjust the timeline if necessary.

Biden attended a virtual G7 summit over Afghanistan earlier in the day, which "he confirmed we are currently on pace to finish by Aug 31," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement. "He also made clear that with each day of operations on the ground, we have added risk to our troops with increasing threats from ISIS-K," she said, referring to the local affiliate of the Islamic State. "And that completion of the mission by Aug 31 depends on continued coordination with the Taliban, including continued access for evacuees to the airport."
