全国早稻总产量增长2.7%

China's early rice output saw a 2.7% increase this year as per unit yield improved, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Wednesday. The output reached 28.02 million tons, up 723,000 tons from 2020.
国家统计局8月25日发布数据显示，2021年全国早稻总产量2802万吨，比2020年增加72.3万吨，增长2.7%。

Despite a slight decrease in cultivation area due to droughts in southern China and adjustment in crop structure, the per unit area yield of early rice increased 3% year on year, according to Li Suoqiang, an official from NBS. A bumper summer harvest and an increase in early rice production have laid a solid foundation for stable grain production for the year and provided strong support for a good start to the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), Li said.
早稻单产水平有所增加。国家统计局官员李锁强分析，由于我国南方部分地区天气干旱影响早稻适时移栽，以及种植结构调整减少早稻种植，早稻播种面积有所下降，但2021年全国早稻单产仍比上年增长3.0%。他表示，夏粮丰收和早稻增产奠定了全年粮食稳定生产的基础，为"十四五"开好局、起好步提供了坚强有力的支撑。

>China cracks 185,000 telecoms, online fraud cases
1-7月破获电信网络诈骗案18.5万起

Chinese public security organs have cracked 185,000 cases related to telecoms and online fraud, and arrested 247,000 suspects from January to July, the Ministry of Public Security announced Wednesday.
公安部8月25日表示，今年1至7月，公安机关共破获电信网络诈骗案件18.5万起，抓获犯罪嫌疑人24.7万名。

The number of telecoms and online fraud cases fell for two consecutive months in June and July, compared with the same period last year, said the ministry.
6月至7月，全国电信网络诈骗案件发案数连续2个月同比下降。

By the end of June, Chinese police had also arrested 36,000 suspects in 20,000 criminal cases related to food, drugs, the environment, and intellectual property rights, the ministry said.
截至今年6月底，共侦破危害食药环和知识产权犯罪案件2万起，抓获犯罪嫌疑人3.6万人。

Over 3,000 missing or abducted children were rescued during a nationwide campaign launched in January, it added.
自今年1月开展"团圆"行动以来，累计找回历年失踪被拐儿童3000余名。

北京实施教师轮岗制度

Primary and middle school teachers in Beijing's public school system will be required to take part in rotation programs to further improve education equity and quality in the city.
北京市公办中小学教师都将参加轮岗项目，促进教育优质均衡。

Teachers and principals who have worked at the same school for more than six years will be asked to shift to another school and share their knowledge and experience with new colleagues and students. Educators who are more than five years away from retirement are eligible for the program.
凡是距离退休时间超过5年的，并且在同一所学校任职满6年的教师和校长均应进行交流轮岗，到其他学校与师生分享经验和知识。

The rotation programs will be carried out in different ways based on participants' positions, in which principals will rotate within the district, outstanding teachers equally distributed, and average teachers rotated on assigned jobs.
交流的形式包括区域内校长交流轮换、骨干教师均衡配置、普通教师派位轮岗等。

Districts with weak teaching talent can get better support via methods such as dual-teacher classes during the program.
通过双师课堂等方式为师资薄弱的地区提供更多支持。

The new policy provides incentives for qualified educators to move, such as higher pay and rotation participation being taken into account when promotion is considered.

>Japan stops use of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine
日本停用莫德纳新冠疫苗

Japan will halt the use of 1.63 million doses of Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine after reports of foreign substances in several lots, drugmaker Takeda and the health ministry said on Thursday.
日本厚生劳动省和武田制药8月25日表示，国内几个疫苗接种中心报告称在莫德纳新冠疫苗瓶中发现异物，因此决定暂停使用超过163万剂的该款疫苗。

Takeda, which is in charge of sales and distribution of the Moderna shot in Japan, said it had informed Moderna and "requested an urgent investigation". Takeda did not detail the nature of the contamination, but said it had not so far received any reports of health concerns arising from affected doses.
