>China's CPI up in April
4月份CPI同比上涨2.1%

China's consumer price index, a main gauge of inflation, rose 2.1 percent year-on-year in April, the National Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday. On a monthly basis, the CPI inched up 0.4 percent partly due to the domestic resurgence of COVID-19 and the continuous rise of bulk commodity prices across the globe, noted Dong Lijuan, a senior statistician with the NBS.
国家统计局5月11日发布数据，4月份，全国居民消费价格指数（CPI）同比上涨2.1%，环比上涨0.4%。国家统计局城市司高级统计师董莉娟表示，4月份，受国内疫情及国际大宗商品价格持续上涨等因素影响，CPI温和上涨。

Wednesday's data also showed China's producer price index, which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, went up 8 percent year-on-year in April.
当天发布的数据还显示，4月份，全国工业生产者出厂价格指数（PPI）同比上涨8%。

>China to expand foreign investment
两部门拟修订鼓励外商投资产业目录

China will further expand the industry catalog of sectors encouraging foreign investment, authorities said. The new list will add 238 more items, while up to 114 existing ones will be modified, according to a notice issued by China's National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce. The increase is particularly relevant to items related to manufacturing, producer services and those in the central and western regions.
国家发改委、商务部近日公布《鼓励外商投资产业目录(2022年版)(征求意见稿)》，持续鼓励外资投向制造业与生产性服务业，持续鼓励外资投向中西部和东北地区。《鼓励外商投资产业目录（2022年版）（征求意见稿）》与2020年版相比，增加238条，修改114条（主要是扩展原条目涵盖领域）。

Foreign direct investment into the Chinese mainland in terms of actual use expanded 25.6 percent year-on-year to 379.87 billion yuan in the first quarter.
商务部数据显示，今年一季度全国实际使用外资3798.7亿元人民币，同比增长25.6%。

>China likely to meet annual growth target
专家：中国有望实现全年经济增长目标

China will likely meet its annual growth target of around 5.5 percent this year with the help of the government's effective measures to control COVID-19 and stabilize market expectations, economists and experts said. Compared with other major economies, China reported higher GDP growth with lower inflation in the first quarter, demonstrating resilience despite downward pressures, said Wang Yiming, vice-chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges. Wang's views were echoed by Liu Qiao, dean of the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University. Considering the strong resilience of the economy and China's ample tools, Liu believes China has the confidence to meet its annual growth target in 2022.

>82% of seniors fully vaccinated
我国60岁以上老年人群接种率不断提升

More than 1.25 billion Chinese have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of Thursday, accounting for 88.74 percent of the country's total population, a Chinese health official said Friday. As of Thursday, about 3.35 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered across the Chinese mainland and nearly 757 million people had received a booster jab, Wu Liangyou, an official with the National Health Commission, said at a news conference.
国家卫生健康委疾控局副局长吴良有5月6日在新闻发布会上说，截至5月5日，全国累计报告接种新冠病毒疫苗约33.5亿剂次，已完成全程接种逾12.5亿人，全程接种人数占全国总人口的88.74%。近7.57亿人完成加强免疫接种。
