A new high of 11.93 million students will take China's national college entrance exam for 2022, also known as the "gaokao."
2022年全国高考共有1193万人报名，再创历史新高。

Aside from a postponement in Shanghai due to COVID-19, the exam will be held on June 7 and 8 nationwide.
今年的高考，除上海因新冠疫情延期举行外，其余地方都将于6月7日、6月8日举行。

The gaokao is deemed critical for social mobility and national talent selection in China.
高考是国家选拔人才、社会人才流动的重要通道。

More than 10 million students took the exam across the country in 2021.
2021年全国参加高考的考生人数超过了1000万人。

>China's manufacturing PMI up in May
国家统计局:5月PMI有所回升

The purchasing managers' index for China's manufacturing sector came in at 49.6 in May, up from 47.4 in April, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed Tuesday.
国家统计局5月31日消息，5月份，制造业采购经理指数(PMI)为49.6%，比上月上升2.2个百分点。

A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below 50 reflects contraction.
PMI读数以50为枯荣线，处于枯荣线以上表示经济处于扩张阶段，枯荣线之下属于收缩阶段。

The PMI for China's non-manufacturing sector came in at 47.8 in May, up from 41.9 in April.
5月份，非制造业商务活动指数为47.8%，比上月上升5.9个百分点。

>Shanghai resuming normal life
上海6月1日起全面恢复正常秩序

Shanghai will fully restore production and daily life will return to normal starting on Wednesday, the city government announced on Tuesday.
5月31日，上海市副市长宗明在新闻发布会上宣布，6月1日起，上海全面恢复全市正常生产生活秩序阶段。

Shopping malls, supermarkets, convenience stores, pharmacies and produce markets will restore offline business in accordance with epidemic control protocols, noted Zong Ming, vice-mayor of Shanghai, during a press briefing.
购物中心、超市卖场、便利店、药店等商业网点有序恢复线下营业，农贸市场有序恢复。

Postal and courier services are free to reopen their disposal centers and terminal outlets, and restore delivery of personalized products gradually.
邮政快递有序恢复处理中心和营业网点，逐步全面恢复个人寄递服务。

>China ensuring high-quality foreign trade
国办发文力促外贸保稳提质

China will help foreign trade enterprises through current challenges and maintain steady and high-quality growth of the sector to stabilize the economy, industry chains and supply chains, according to a circular released by the State Council on May 26.
5月26日，国务院办公厅印发《关于推动外贸保稳提质的意见》，帮扶外贸企业应对困难挑战，实现进出口保稳提质任务目标，助力稳经济稳产业链供应链。

Local governments should establish services and safeguard systems for key foreign trade enterprises and solve their difficulties to support their operation, the circular said.
意见要求，指导各地建立重点外贸企业服务保障制度，及时解决外贸企业的困难问题，尽快帮助受疫情影响的外贸企业复工达产。
