西藏打砸抢烧事件发生以来，美国有线新闻网（CNN）等多个著名西方媒体因歪曲报道而遭到内地网民的炮轰。近日CNN再次惹祸，其中一个时事评论节目的主持人杰克·卡弗蒂（Jack Cafferty）在谈及奥运圣火在美国旧金山市的传递情况时，竟指华人在过去五十年间“基本上是一帮暴民和恶棍”，甚至称中国产品都是“垃圾”。其言论引起美国华人强烈不满，当地华人随即发动网上联署行动，除抗议CNN辱华，又要求CNN道歉，并对该名主持人采取行动。

美国华人在公开信中指出，卡弗蒂的言论充斥对华人固执的偏见和难以掩饰的恶毒攻击。这种故意贬低某一族群和煽动种族敌视的言论也公然违背了美国民族平等的精神。信中希望CNN立即对Cafferty采取行动，并就此事向华人道歉，该会也保留对此采取进一步行动权利。
