神舟七号载人航天飞行任务总指挥部决定，神舟七号飞船将于9月25日21时07分至22时27分择机发射，进行载人航天飞行。飞船运行期间，两名航天员进入轨道舱，分别穿着我国研制的“飞天”舱外航天服和从俄罗斯引进的“海鹰”航天服进行出舱活动准备。其中，一名航天员出舱进行舱外活动，回收在舱外装载的试验样品装置。

在太空行走之前，承担此项历史重任的航天员要先在另一名航天员的帮助下穿上重达120公斤的无动力舱外活动航天服。

上述报道中，extra vehicular activity 就是“舱外活动”的英文表达，简称EVA，是我们通常所说 spacewalk（太空行走）的专业说法。

WIKI百科介绍说Extra-vehicular activity (EVA) is work done by an astronaut away from the Earth and outside of a spacecraft. The term most commonly applies to an EVA made outside a craft orbiting Earth (a spacewalk) but also applies to an EVA made on the surface of the Moon (a moonwalk)，由此可见，“舱外活动”（EVA）还具体分为spacewalk（太空行走）和moonwalk（月球行走）。
