French President Nicolas Sarkozy (see photo) has been criticized for his soaring expenses while residing at the Elysee Palace. The cost of running his presidency leapt by 18% last year and the cost of daily expenses, such as food, jumped by more than 50% to EUR500000 a week, according to a report by an opposition MP. The Elysee Palace denied the claims as being politically motivated and mischievous.
