据报道，北京奥运纪念品特许生产商违反国际劳工标准，不但雇用年仅12岁的童工，而且工厂安全情况差，还扣工资。这四家厂商主要是港资及台资厂。北京奥组委对此报道做出回应，表示将对此事严查到底。

Beijing Games organizers have stressed that the use of child labor is strictly forbidden in the production of Olympic-licensed products and vowed to probe any allegation of labor abuse.

报道中的“child labor”指的就是“童工”，这里的“child”修饰“labor”。在英语中，两个名词可以合在一起，组成一个新的合成词。类似的词还有：“child bride”（童养媳、年轻的新娘）、“child health”（儿童保健）、“child abuse”（虐待儿童）等。

此外，虐待劳工表示为“labor abuse”。
