If you want to know where next year's most in-demand travel destination may be, just look at the next few months' releases of movies and TV shows. The "set-jetting" trend seems to be having a bit of a moment, and tourism boards are scrambling to make the most of it. "Game of Thrones" has irrevocably changed tourism in the ancient Croatian city of Dubrovnik; and with the release of "Crazy Rich Asians", the Singapore tourism board ramped up its efforts to lure set-jetters eager to experience the lavish lifestyle depicted in the film. In addition, Vogue reported that Monterey, California, had seen a bump in tourism since "Big Little Lies" premiered; and the British seaside region of Cornwall has had an influx of international visitors thanks to the BBC period drama series "Poldark".

>US Sen McCain dies at 81

US Senator John McCain, a two-time contender for the US presidency, died at his home in the state of Arizona on Saturday, his office said in a statement. He was 81. "Senator John Sidney McCain III died at 4:28 pm on Aug 25, 2018. With the senator when he passed were his wife Cindy and their family," the statement said. McCain had suffered from a malignant brain tumor and had been treated periodically with radiation and chemotherapy since its discovery in 2017. President Donald Trump tweeted his condolences to the family of McCain. "My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!" the president tweeted.

Asian-Americans are now the most economically divided racial or ethnic group in the US, displacing African-Americans, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of US Census Bureau data. Income inequality among Asian-Americans has nearly doubled from 1970 to 2016. While rich Asians have become the highest-earning group in the nation, income growth among poor Asians has largely stagnated. This trend mirrors that of other racial groups, though income inequality has accelerated fastest among Asians. By 2016, Asians in the top 10th of income distribution earned about $120,000 more than those in the bottom 10th. Disparities among Asian-Americans are primarily driven by the different levels of education, skills and English-language proficiency among the many groups that make up the diaspora. People from India and China have higher incomes than those from Southeast Asia because they have higher levels of education on average.

Astronomers have found patches of frost scattered around the moon's north and south poles which could one day provide a source of water for human visitors. The scientists spotted the telltale signature of frozen water in infrared measurements taken by NASA's moon mineralogy mapper. Most of the ice was found near the moon's south pole around a cluster of craters. In the north, the patches of ice appeared to be more isolated, according to Shuai Li at the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology in Honolulu. Follow-up measurements of the ice patches found that they tended to form where the surface temperature never crept above -163C, but temperature alone was not enough to guarantee frozen water: only 3.5% of the shadowy areas the scientists checked for water revealed notable signs of ice.
