It is now 137 days until the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games and in less than five hours the torch relay will get underway in Olympia, Greece, the birthplace of the Olympics.
The flame will be lit at 11 a.m. local time in Greece, which is 5 p.m. Beijing Time today. CCTV International will bring you live coverage of this special occasion beginning at 4:15 pm.
A delegation of Beijing Olympic organizers is in Greece for the ceremony. The group is headed by Liu Qi, president of the Beijing Organizing Committee. The mayor of Olympia, George Aidonis, held a banquet to welcome the Beijing delegation Sunday evening. Liu Qi thanked Olympia for its work in support of the Beijing Olympics, particularly the arrangements for the flame-lighting ceremony.
